About Acanthe

Farrar Woltz, a decorative painter trained in Paris, provides both design and decorative painting expertise, specializing in detailed and highly realistic painted wood and marble finishes as well as historic styles of ornamental painting (Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical). Seventeenth and eighteenth century European architecture, interiors and design are key inspirations, providing ideas, color schemes and details to adapt to today's interiors. Painted finishes can also create quite untraditional looks, where a more modern aesthetic is the goal.

Chic faux finishes such as faux bois (faux wood) and faux marbre (faux marble) are wonderful highlights for all architectural features: doors, columns, mantelpieces, baseboards, wainscoting, etc. These elements, as well as furniture and accessories, can be painted with a variety of finishes and design motifs to create a new look or complement your existing interior design.

Based in Central Virginia, Acanthe is focused primarily on the Richmond and Charlottesville areas, although some jobs have been much farther afield, ranging from New York City to the Bahamas. Please look through this brief online portfolio for an overview of the type of work offered by Acanthe, and if you have any inquiries, or if you would like to contact Acanthe to set up an appointment, please send an e-mail to: farrar@acanthedesign.com

Your message will be replied to as soon as possible.
